Leslie’s Life being colored, shaped and molded

Fun stuff

Ok, so I have been playing with the layout… and I added a nice little button that will be nice for those of you who like to visit but get tired of me NEVER updating :) It is a subscribe button :) you can either subscribe to a reader or you can enter your email address and you will get 1 email each evening when I have updated. (and none if I haven’t)

Anyway, when I am all finished here, I will go and add some to Better Me as well!! Since I am even worse about updating over there!!! Hopefully now that I can do this from my phone, it will get better!!!

BTW, I haven’t posted here, but I had a job interview on Friday and I am supposed to hear today if I got the job. It will be in a Sleep lab, so I will be working Nights, but will be able to update a little more often too… if I get the job :) Prayers would be appreciated! I do believe God has been in the middle of the whole thing. I wasn’t going to go to the dinner for Ken’s work a couple weeks ago. Things moved around and I went. I ended up sitting across from this guy who is a partner in the sleep labs. (turns out HE wasn’t going to the dinner either). Anyway, after lots of back and forth about whether they had openings, wanted to hire an RRT and such, I got called last Thursday to interview on Friday. It went well and all the staff are Christians. They are praying about hiring me. If they hire me, they are going to train me, which most of the hospitals don’t want to do. 3 nights a week… not a bad deal. Cell phone is sitting in front of me… so I don’t miss it!!

Long Overdue!

I have had a really crazy summer, and have been very horrible about updating this. Not only did I get a new computer, but I got a new phone, so my excuses are going down on why I am not doing this. And since I am laid up for at least a week with my foot elevated, I really have no excuse anymore! So, I am going to attempt to do a few entries and get caught up.

I had surgery on my little toe yesterday, the one I broke back in April of 2003. It took me asking to have the toe cut off to get someone to do something. I thought it was all scar tissue, until they finally did an x-ray last week. (yes after the surgery was all scheduled… nothing like after the fact) I think something would have been done a while ago if they had done a simple x-ray! My toe looked like a parenthase. Not only was it crooked, but there was an extra bump on the bone. The toe was called a hammer toe.

The pain is not too bad. Advil seems to be holding me, as long as doesn’t get bumped. No to figure iut how to keep my hand from going numb while typing in bed!

Keep checking back. I am going to attempt to get at least June done today, but first I have to turn off the button clicks so I don’t drive Ken crazy!!!

Frustration

Well, I very nicely set it up that my blog would upload my twitter stuff as entries and it is supposed to check multiple times a day. Today I was at SimplyMac and saw that my blog hasn’t been updated since June 2. Wow, that is a lot of stuff that hasn’t been put on here. No wonder no one comes to read this anymore.

Well the coolest thing is that we have money this month. We got 2 new tv’s with surround sound for both. K likes to laugh that the tv in the family room is bigger than she is. At Genetics this past month, they measured her at 51.5 inches. We told her we would get her new shoes before going to Elitch’s again, cuz you have to be 52 inches for most of the roller coasters. :) We got a 52 inch Samsung 750 in the family room and a 42 inch Vizio in the bedroom Everyone keeps asking why we got such a big tv in the bedroom, I said, so I can see it without my glasses.

Ken got his Jeep. it is a 1990 jeep wrangler. He loves it and even went to the car club group from Compassion. He changed the oil, spark plugs and belts. and he wants to join 4 wheel club here in town. I just laugh and remind him that the trip will probably include camping (which is just fine for me, but he isn’t into that much!!!)

And the best part, today, he bought me a new iMac!!! I got a 24 inch, and this thing it huge!! I can’t put it in my desk cuz it is too big, but I won’t take my hutch off, so it is sitting in front of the old monitor :) I will put a picture on flickr!!! And the best part… I didn’t have to lose all my settings and files and stuff off the old one… all I had to do was connect with a firewire and it transfered everything for me!!! Not even my email rules!! I tell you, the more I learn about Apple, the more I can’t believe how long it took me to switch. When I found out about the parental controls, that was what had me sold. K can’t go to a website or get or send an email from someone I don’t know about without me knowing!! I LOVE it! Every one who has kids should get a Mac.

I do still find a few websites that don’t support Mac. Like when we signed up for our car insurance, you had to have IE. I just called them, told them they were stupid and to mail me the papers ;) (ok, I didn’t say they were stupid, but I did tell them that there are enough of us out here that use Mac, that they need to get past this MUST have IE crap!!!)

We also got me a Nintendo DS and a Wii, finally. It was late for Father’s Day, but he says with it being more for the family, it doesn’t count anyway!! ;) I think I am going to plan to do something else as well. We were going to go on an Alaskan Cruise this summer, but we decided that we don’t want to spend that much money on something that we don’t know if we will enjoy. I have always done fine on water, but since I actually get motion sick SNOW SKIING, I think our plan is better. We are just going to go on a family vacation this next month and go to Sea World and such. In October we booked a 3 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera on one of K’s long weekends. If we like it, then in December or so, we will put down a deposit on an Alaskan Cruise for next summer where we are able to schedule that first and work around everything else. This summer was just too hard trying to work around GS camp and all that other stuff. Anyway, I am very excited about all of this stuff… and K’s passport is on the way anyway so we are good!!!

Hopefully now that I have this wonderful new computer, I will be updating more!!! (now to get use to this wonderful new thin little keyboard!!)

I need to set it up so I can shoot posts from my text

See, that is why Twitter gets updated so much… i can just shoot a text message over and it will just post in the side bar… did you know they make gadgets like an IM box that will show up on your screen with all my little posts ;) I love my twitter box (but I also have a Mac… but I am sure they have something like that with Windows too… if nothing else… googletalk will do it).

Anyway, Wednesday we have our niece’s 8th grade graduation and Friday we leave for Montana for our other niece’s High School graduation. That will be fun. We are going to try and do yellowstone on our way up… stopping to visit Ken’s old stomping ground on our way up.

Since last I posted, Ken and I celebrated our 19th anniversary, They spoiled me for mother’s day with a beautiful sapphire necklace (picture on flickr ->) and Ken got me a 3 in 1 scanner/printer/fax for our anniversary (didn’t you know that 19th anniversary is computer accessories ;) actually it is something I wanted!!!) I got my nails done for the first time in I don’t remember how many years and have taken this long and shortening them to be able to type again. Friday was my last day of work. Not sure if I will be going back in the fall or not… life is a whole lot crazy around that church. I spent this last week taking and editing and printing the class pictures. I spent the week before getting pictures taken and edited and printed for the 2-3 year old mother’s day gifts. I guess I should become a photographer ;) Although I think I did do a pretty good job photoshoping myself into a class picture… since Belinda was in England for a month and then i was out too… talk about a nightmare trying to get a class picture for that one.

I also applied for a job at a sleep lab, which sounds like something right up my alley!! Ken and I got our offices switched, and he is now working from home. And just this weekend, our TV went out in our bedroom, so i am looking forward to going shopping for a new TV when we get back from Montana. I moved our old 20 inch back in the bedroom for now, but then it will go in my office. Watch, with my luck, now that Ken is out of the upstairs room and i have it, Now I will end up PG and have to move all over again to make it a nursery ;) LOL

Anyway, I have been sick since Wednesday, but can’t seem to figure out what is causing the pain… but that is something for over at Better Me. Our poor dog has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. She ended up getting an eye infection called Pannus, which is common in German Shepherds and usually shows up between the ages of 3 & 5… well, she is 4. We went for her follow up visit… 3 weeks after starting her meds and she is doing much better. I asked about her nose at this visit (I was on the walk when Ken took her initially) and it turns out that it too is from the autoimmune disorder … so not only is she not allowed outside between the hours of 10 & 2 anymore, but we have to put Zinc on her nose. I laughed, cuz I remember doing that growing up in Arizona for swim team practice!! It is better than the sun glasses which is where I thought she was going to have to go. And it turned out that me putting the cortisone cream on her nose is exactly how the vet would have treated it if I had brought her in sooner! See, I’m not as crazy as dh likes to think I am ;)

Anyway, that is enough for now. I am off to set up email posts and maybe then I will have short little entries going on in here!!!

Things Have Gotten Absolutely Crazy

Where do we even start? And the weirdest part is, I am not even talking about the medical stuff.

Friday at work, I found out that the Children’s Director resigned on Thursday effective immediately. Wow. Ok, that probably means more work for my boss, since that is her boss. Then I found out that the youth director also resigned, but he gave them until the end of confirmation which is the 18th of May. (and I was being good and not writing about any of this until today since the kids weren’t suppose to find out until today). Yes, I am still trying to decide what I want to do, but actually neither of these 2 things effect me or my job unless they decide to get rid of our program or something.

Yesterday was our Emmaus Team meeting. Well the one thing we have always known is that Satan does NOT like these weekends to happen, and the one thing that I have learned, the more he fights us, the more that the weekend is going to be amazing!! (and that there are people there who God has plans for!!) With the amount that out teams have been attacked, I am just so excited about the weekend. I can’t believe the last team meeting is over and that there is only 2.5 weeks until we leave. Then they also announced how bad that he is attacking the summer walks. We have not had summer walks in our community for so many years, I know that they are needed so badly, and, like I said, the attack that the teams are coming under is just confirming that fact. They are needing to replace a lot of team members in key positions, so I did send an email and said if she needs me, to hollar… cuz the cool part about me is, I can do ANY job there is except clergy (and it isn’t that I don’t think I could do that one, but I think we could get into a little trouble with the fact I am not even in seminary… but I think I could do a good job with one of their talks!!) Guess we will see what happens. I haven’t even heard anything.

Then today I get to church and found out that our Sr. youth pastor had resigned (I apparently missed the message or something) so our Jr. Hi youth pastor is now the Sr. and he is trying to get it all transitioned nicely and hire a new Jr. Hi youth pastor. I am going to sure miss Pastor Sam, but I know God will definitely use him somewhere. He has gifted that young man, and he can sure preach!! I hope he is moving up in a church where ever he goes!!!

Then the icing on the cake is that Ken has been offered a job. It is with a company he has done freelance stuff for, so he already knows the program, and they had approached him about a year ago, but I don’t think that the time was right. He met with them on Saturday (yes, while I was in Canon City at the team meeting), and then he and I will be going to dinner with everyone from the company tomorrow night. They are a small company (which is a good fit for Ken) and not everyone works here in town, but they are all in town from today through Wednesday, so this worked well.

Ken also has a meeting at work on Wednesday about the job he was applying for. They are currently going through re-organization in their department and everyone is having to apply and interview and the whole nine yards for the positions they want. The job he is interested in would hopefully be a raise as well, but I don’t know. I am just praying that if this is the time for the move, than every door be opened. If this is not, than God please shut every door and make it very clear what he is supposed to do.

Oh, and did I mention, if he takes the new job, yah, he will be working from home. Thus the more motivation for me to get a job OUT of the house or we will end up killing each other!!! (although I have suggested that we make him an actual office in the basement so he can ‘go’ to work… probably even put the door back on down there!)

I got my peony planted today. It is so beautiful outside. I didn’t get any of the rocks moved for my garden today… but that is because I fell asleep. (isn’t that what you are supposed to do on a Sunday afternoon?). All my veggies are starting to poke in. I have them started in the little jiffy gardens in the front window. It is much cheaper this way than buying plants.

So, how was your weekend??? Oh, and I got the RSS link put in the side bar if you want to have my posts in a reader or I think there is even an option to email them to you :)

Snoopy Dance

It worked, it worked, it worked!!!!

Happy Dance

Until I did this post and tried to put in some graphics… now it has me wondering if it really does work after all since I have now edited this one 3 times trying to get the pictures in the right place!! ;) Ok, now lets try that… if this worked, it makes me think it is actually the graphic and not the program :)

Upgraded Wordpress

Ok, this is a test run since I upgraded word press tonight to see if they fixed the paragraph issue.

Otherwords, the dh wants me to explain it to him…. so I am going to write a post here, with lots of paragraph breaks :)

Happy Anniversary, yesterday to Clare & Michael. I never got even an email off to them… They celebrated #4. (and I have known Clare for over 30 years, thus the no excuse thing)

And Happy Anniversary to Kim & Tim, who celebrated #9 on the 3rd. At least I was only 1 day late for Clare, I am 2 days late for Kim :)

Ok, going to hit save now and see what happens. I just switched the html view and that alone is showing promise. Did I mention that this looks a whole lot different since they upgraded???? Now to save!

My Title

I was just thinking about the title of my blog… and the actual WHOLE thing. It is just so true right now.

I use Crayonsetc all the time… and if you google it, I will be the whole 1st page at least… or it is someone’s link TO me!! If you google my name… Yah, I have gone as far in as 15-20 pages in and haven’t found me, and that is even when putting Colorado with it. (have you ever googled your name? It is kind of fun… sometimes I will google friends just to see if I can find them, especially people I have lost contact with.) Now if you google just crayons… I show up in the first 2 pages, Playdoh the first 5 and it has been awhile so I don’t remember exactly, but even with wax, I know it was in the top 10. (I am thinking I have a really common name… not like you would think that leslie is that common, and we won’t start on the last name… but no, it is not Smith!)

So I was talking to some people and actually explained the Crayonsetc the other day… btw, I didn’t realize how many people didn’t realize that it is Crayons Etc… When I was looking at my domain name, Ken informed me that Crayons, Playdoh & Wax was too long for a domain (and it was available, surprise?), so that is when I decided to go with Crayons Etc. The other thing is that people just kind of look at me quizzically when I tell them that it is short for Crayons, Playdoh & Wax… to then, when I share the tag line, they get it. I have no idea, well actually I do. When I first started blogging… I wanted something cute that described me, but was different. At the time I was selling candles, thus the wax… and K was little, so my life was all about the Crayons  & Playdoh. So that is when I did come up with the tag line to go with it… and to this day it is still appropriate, thus the reason I have not changed it… (just locations ;))

Crayons, Playdoh & Wax… My life being Colored, Shaped and Molded. There you go, cuz I know you were always wondering.

Sorry, down to DNS issues

They had some changes at my host and I thought I missed it, but then my blog went down Monday and I didn’t get it working until today.

Oh, and I think someone hacked my twitter. Ken called me in his office harassing me about what I was writting on Twitter… well, last time I checked, I don’t have a pe>>s so I wouldn’t be commenting on the size of mine. Obviously it wasn’t me… and then when I tried to change my password, i got an error… as it was, Twitter was down when I tried to log in. Hopefully that was the only problem… they were on top of it. I did send a bunch of invites for twitter tonight though… you don’t have to have a blog to have twitter… or you can link it to facebook and Myspace.

K went to the doctor today, follow up on the MRI on her knees. Ok, we figured it would be surgery or PT, but I don’t think I was ready for what he had to say. He said we need to take her to a geneticist, because he actually thinks she has a ‘further’ version to her hypertonia. He thinks she has something called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I am sure he knew I would go home and google it, because he told us too do it, but also told me not to freak out, because some of it is REALLY bad… but she is on the milder end of things, but the biggest thing is we need to figure out if she has it because it can effect internal organs. Oookay…. I am now a little more intrigued. I guess it has to do with the way she produces collagen in her body. I linked the Wikipedia version since it is easier to understand. I haven’t gone completely into details on my reading let alone putting it here. But basically, we have her 504 meeting on Friday, she has an order for her Speed Eval, OT eval and PT eval… oh, and no trampolines, basketball… any kind of sport that has jumping and cutting. Karate is ok, but we need the instructors to know that she has this, because she can hyper-extend so easily, that she can dislocate. I am glad I found out now, cuz I was seriously thinking about a tramp this summer, because that is recommended for her OT. Guess they need to find something new now!! I am looking for a punching bag!!!

Going to bed. I still have to manually put in all paragraph breaks… so any ideas on that one would be greatly appreciated!!!! Night!!

Super Tuesday & Snow stuff

I have been teasing dh. See, although Colorado is actually considered a democrat state, the county I live in is definitely NOT. We will have 3 Republican precincts caucusing at our school… he has to go to a completely different school for his (and it isn’t even our HOME middle school it is the next one over from that). I said that is so the 10 of them can actually all get together in a middle area ::giggle:: In all the years I have been voting, tonight is my very FIRST Caucus. I actually had to ask how it works. I am kind of excited. Tonight is our normal Girl Scout leader meeting, and I told them that doing it against the Caucus was not a good idea, but since we are going to our Thinking day camp this weekend, they really need to meet with final instructions!!

We have a 2 hour delay today. I am sure the kids have been really bummed while glued to the TV waiting to see if that 2 hour delay would change to a closure… but I think we are down to the final hour… and it has passed… so that also means I will be going out, cuz registration for the fall starts today, and my boss has pneumonia. (I feel so completely horrible for her. As bad as I have felt the last 2 weeks, she sounds so much worse… and being a single parent right now since dh was deployed is NOT easy being this sick!!! I keep offering to help!) Anyway, I am going to go in and help since my class isn’t happening (we cancel class with a delay)… and the gal who was going to help… her kids are in our wonderful main school district in town that NEVER delays or closes!!! (I mean we have to be snowed in under 6 feet of snow for them to even delay!!! Which is not fun for their northern schools… we are talking about 1500 feet difference between their southern most school and northern most school! The northern schools back up to our district and until this year, we would delay at a sneeze ::giggle:: I was actually surprised we got a delay after the lack of them the last few good snows we had!!)

It’s ok, I have a dentist appointment this afternoon and dd goes to the eye doctor (and I get to order my new glasses…. bifocals… I am getting old!!)

Sorry I haven’t been updating… still been horribly nasty sick… but finally decided I can’t sit home… so I went back to work after completing the first round of antibiotics. I will go post at BetterMe when I am done here.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in ordering Pampered Chef or having a catalog party… this months host special… 60% off your choice in the catalog!!! It’s a great deal!!

Last… HELP!!! a quick WordPress question… I upgraded my program and have to MANUALLY put in my paragraph breaks, am I missing a button I need to have checked somewhere???? This is getting OLD!!!! (and it is on both blogs) or is this a MAC thing??? (but I am pretty sure I had to do it on the Piece of C#*@ in the basement too!!!)
