Leslie’s Life being colored, shaped and molded

Happy Memorial Day!!!

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend. I got to sleep in… then I laid in bed playing with the cats… I am going to go work in my yard in a bit as I bought some tomato plants, some zucchini and cucumber. I started tomatoes from seed, but that kittens killed them all. I think I am going to run to Lowes and get one of those garden seats!!! At least the yard got mowed on Friday, so I can tell where the flower bed actually START!!! Yah, I did nothing in them last summer, so they are completely OVER RUN. I think I will put the small handle on the garden weasel as well!!! Dh is just enjoying having the day off… and for the dd, it is just another day in the summer vacation as she is off with her friends!!!

I think I might pop by Michele’s too… for her meet & Greet, but I am thinking it ended yesterday since she is in Canada. I was wrong… she did include Monday, just for us American’s!!!

Thank you to all who serve in our armed services… for giving us the protection and our Freedom!! And thank you to all the families, who are doing without a spouse or loved one as they are off protecting the lifestyle we have and the freedom we so take forgranted. Thank you even more to those who have lost a loved one serving our country. We will never forget what they have done for us!!

New Church Home???

Well, there was a good thing about church tonight… I could actually feel the spirit there. Not that I didn’t have the abdominal pain while there, but that just leads me to believe that there are people there that really need to be!

I made a point of introducing ourselves to the pastor, and I asked him about the Emmaus Community at their church. He had never heard of Emmaus. I explained it a little and offered to email him more about it. I told him that with being a member of the board, I would like to be able to put up applications… and he said he would have to look them over. I emailed him as soon as we got home, filling in the details and including our website and the link to the Upper Room. I told him in the email that it is a program for developing church leaders and that they have actually been linked to our website for a few years now (because I know of a few people that do attend)

There is one other church I really would like to try. I might do that when Ken is in Boston later next month. I will know people at that church from the Emmaus community. I still have issues with churches that don’t let women do anything but teach classes. Last week I noticed that they only had Male ushers… and only males served communion. I know that I am going to find that in a non-denominational church, but still. I have to feel comfortable. This week is better… and in the mean time, I am continuing to pray!!

Happy Birthday Heather

So today my niece is 17… she has been counting down for this, so she can enlist in the reserves. She is in ROTC at school and feels this is what she is suppose to do. I am very proud of her for that!

I have been rather neglectful this year about posting birthday wishes… matter of fact, I think this is the first… and it is definitely not the first of the year.. matter of fact, her sister had a birthday earlier this month. Actually, I believe she is the 8th niece/nephew birthday so far this year (well counting a birth that is). This is our busiest time of the year for birthdays… From April 20 thru June 30, we have 8 birthdays… just in the nieces and nephews… (out of 16) well and my little brother, who always gets clumped in with them… cuz he is the same age as all the nieces/nephews. (and there are more if I count the adults… and our anniversary and and and and….)

Happy Birthday Heather! We Love you!!!

Happy Friday

So today was a pretty good day. I got to sleep in :) since school is now OVER for the summer. Got up, checked some email… and just vegged.

We finally got dressed and headed out of the house about 3 this afternoon. I had promised the dd that I would take her to exchange her Croc decorations… she decided after we got home that she did indeed want the animals instead of the butterfly and ladybug. (I was actually surprised she had picked the same as Mom) I want the new Nile style of shoes, but dh says if dd has to earn a new pair than so do I. UGH, Men! You know these shoes have to be comfortable… cuz the originals are just so UGLY!!

I ended up picking her up a couple of outfits at The Children’s Place since they were having a Memorial Day Sale. She was so excited cuz she got a pair of flip flops that actually MATCHED a dress she bought!

Then we headed to the library and got her some books. I will say that the one thing I am usually really good with is getting her to read in the summer… except last summer, but I have no intension of being gone for a MONTH again this summer! Got her all enrolled in the summer program… and she even got some chapter books. She apparently LOVED reading The plant that Ate Dirty Socks at school this year and it seems there is a WHOLE bunch of sequals!!

I got a Willow Tree angel with one of my gift cards at Family Christian after dinner tonight… I am getting a nice little collection. (I really want to get Ken the Father/Daughter for Father’s Day… but wouldn’t that really be a gift for me???) I looked at a Precious Moments when we were at Hallmark, but I was good… I’ll put it on a list for dh to get me for my bday this summer :)

We are going to be home for the long weekend… and no Reunion Group on Monday… so we will just veg all weekend. (although I did say I would take dinner to my co-worker on Monday again… I still can’t believe her church isn’t doing anything… is it just a Methodist thing with food or something??? ::giggle::)

We are going back to the new church we tried last week (I’m a Saturday Night Gal!!!). DH and dd really liked it. I wasn’t feeling it… so I am not keen on staying, but I did promise to try more than 1 week. I have one other church I really want to try. Finding a new church is so hard… and it doesn’t help that I want a church that has a Saturday night service! (the 2 churches I really wanted to go to BOTH got rid of their Saturday night service since Christmas!!)

Too Funny

So tonight I was over visiting Mamacita via Michele and she had a link to this video… it is pretty good… and since I have DSL, it didn’t take a ton of time to upload!!

(and since I am mentioning Michele… if you post a comment and it doesn’t show up, I probably have to approve it… I do for all first time commenters :))

30 More Minutes

I so can’t believe that school is over for the year…. and in 30 minutes, my dd will be in 3rd grade. It doesn’t seem possible. She is the age that Micheal was when he moved in with us… and now he is graduated from High School. Where does time go!!

A Day Of Doctors

Ok, there are going to be some big and ugly rants over at Better Me. It was a crazy day. I went to therapy, then to the doctor, then K went to therapy… and then we went to the Mall. While I was at the mall, I went and talked to a gal about the mortgage on the house. Got our credit score… not as horrible as i thought, but not that good either. I need to clean up a few things… but other than that, all should be good for the house. Now to get the details straitened out.

Prayer Request

So tonight I saw I had a message from my boss. I called her back and said… well work is over… so this has to be bad news. Sure enough.

Diane, who teaches the 2-3 year olds was driving yesterday at the other end of town and she had a stroke (yes, while she was driving). God was definitely watching over her, cuz she was able to stop the car without any accidents. She is only a few years older than me. She is the one who is very athletic and always working on losing weight. (and doesn’t NEED too). I am just shocked.

The good news is, when they got her to the ER, they took her strait back while her dh filled out paperwork. Once they started the meds, feeling in her hands started coming back. Thankfully today she is doing much better. Her arm started moving today and she can walk and talk.

Please keep Diane and her family in your prayers! (this is the one thing I have been worried about happening to me since all the heart stuff has started happening!!)
