Crayons, Playdoh & Wax

Leslie’s Life being colored, shaped and molded

Air Force 24, New Mexico 7

I realized as we were sitting there at the game today that this was the first game I have gone too since I was PG with K. So, the last time I was at a game was November of 97… that is just too long! I enjoyed the game and even more enjoyed the Falcons’ winning.

I told dh today though that if the niece gets into Westpoint next year, we might actually have to cheer for Army over Air Force ::shudder::

Today it finally hit me though… I am getting Old. I just kept seeing all these young kids who are in college and I keep thinking, I could have a kid their age. And then I was thinking about the fact that we have a very good friend who pinned on Lt. Colonel this weekend. Dh was a lot of help when I said, we have friends that are Lt. Colonels in the AF and he said, Yah, that is cuz we are getting Old. I never really felt it before. I just felt like I was an old person in a young persons body, but now, I actually feel old ;) But I do think that there are people running around my parents age… so that does make me feel better. When I was 20, 40 was old… so I guess now that I am in my 40’s… 80 is old! ROTF!!

Working Again???

Wow, I can actually log into Crayons… first time since yesterday. I couldn’t log into my email, either of my blogs… or even Jenny’s blog… so of course then I emailed her… and she said everything is fine. I get home from the store and boom, I can connect. The mouse is being weird, but I can connect!!

Off to Better Me to write about the most scary night I had last night. I stayed home from work today, but apparently the Endocrinologist isn’t too worried, they aren’t getting me in til Monday!

Thursday Thirteen #14

Thirteen Things I am Going To Do Each Week, Til Christmas

Yes, I started planning… but as you will see, there are 13 weeks til Christmas, which gives me a nice little list of things to do.

1. (9/25) Print out my paperwork and get together my planner (I am about half done… now to find the folder in the garage somewhere… I know it is there, I found it when we were moving!) Unpack 2 boxes a day

2. (10/2) Unpack 2 boxes a day. Try and start all the Flylady stuff and make sure that the house is actually getting in order. The inside looks good, now to work on the garage!

3. (10/9) Get the calendars ready and make sure that everything is planned out. (The official Christmas countdown doesn’t begin until Oct 22) unpack 2 boxes a day

4. (10/16) I am having a Pampered Chef party this week… and so I also have the goal of having the house presentable because I am treating the party as a sort of house warming party. I know I will be giving tours!

5. (10/23) Christmas Countdown begins… This is the Get Organized week… which will give me a little bit of a break, since I am hoping this will already be done. I am to make sure I have all my Christmas Cards bought. I have about 3 boxes that I found when moving (the fun part of moving is finding all the stuff you forgot you have)

6. (10/30) Reality Check Week… Oh, we get to Fall back with time this week… that means it will be getting darker earlier. Start my check list and I get to start by addressing 1/5 of my Christmas cards.

7. (11/6) Gifts ‘n giving week… which means I get to plan out what I am getting for who… making lists is fun for me… I think this is why this plan works for me. And this week I get to start working on the homemade gifts. I came across a really cute idea that I might do for all the nieces (nephews will find it boring I am sure) (And we can’t forget to Vote this week… CO is electing a new Governor)

8. (11/13) Get Cooking Week. Continuing on with the task list… This week I am suppose to make 5 to 10 meals to put in the freezer… and plan all the holiday meals. I LOVE making holiday meals… especially Thanksgiving. I love that holiday!!

9. (11/20) Decorate week… Oh, like I am going to let that one slide by. After the last couple of years I have had at holidays, I am sure I will jump on this one early. Last year at least it wasn’t depression… so I was fully decorated… by Thanksgiving… but let me just say that Mono at Christmas REALLY SUCKS!!! I have more floors to decorate this year… so I might actually get to use all of my trees and stuff! Thanksgiving is this week… and my favorite day of the year… Black Friday… or as I like to call it… Shop Til you drop day!!! Oh and Christmas music comes out this week!!!

10. (11/27) Celebrate week. I think they say Celebrate cuz at this point you are suppose to be all done for Christmas… but it is barely December… and Thanksgiving is over. At this point though, I am almost half way done with the school year… does that even seem possible???

11. (12/4) This week is Ken’s Christmas party for work, so I need to make sure that we have a sitter… and maybe if I actually plan early enough, I can get someone who will even come to the house!!!

12. (12/11) The last week of school before the holiday break. We will be working on the Christmas gifts for the kids to give the parents. I know we have tended to be a little stressed, especially last year with only 2 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks (we get the whole week of Thanksgiving off)

13. (12/18) The week before Christmas. Christmas Eve is on a Sunday, which makes it hard spending so much time at church. Will be doing any last minute stuff.

Organized Christmas

So I printed my papers tonight. Go check out the website for Organized Christmas. Yah, I know, it is early, but then if I do it this year all my card will be mailed by Dec 2. I told dh that I wanted my cards in the mail early this year cuz of our move! I used this organizing system last year… and all was going really well… til I got sick. I didn’t print all the house cleaning stuff this year, cuz dh is determined we are going to do FlyLady since we moved. (he is actually even helping keep the kitchen clean!!)

Speaking of which, there is a Women’s Expo here in town next week and FlyLady is going to actually be there!

Oh, and don’t foget to go visit my Roomie… her time is almost up… so get tell her hi… she has a really interesting picture up for her meme… wordless Wednesday! ->

So the dd says to me tonight… You know Mom, maybe the reason your belly feels bigger and you can’t lose the weight is there is a baby growing in there.

Gospel Music Channel & Revolve

So this weekend they did an advertisement about Gospel Music Channel. I was so excited, cuz I heard about this channel years ago and keep requesting to get it. They ran an ad during WOF telling about it… and they said Directv is adding it. So since we have Directv, I called when I got home (I tried calling while there, but ‘the wait was longer than normal’, so I hung up). They are only offering the channel in 10 Cities, with Denver being one of them… only problem, we don’t count as Denver.

Basically the Gospel Music Channel is like VH1 or MTV, but it is all Christian music Videos and shows. I am so excited… I so couldn’t believe what we heard this weekend about the owner of MTV and his rather RUDE comment. I am going through and blocking that channel in my whole house. If I could do it, I would have it blocked so the channel doesn’t even come IN my house. He had the nerve to say ‘We don’t entertain your children, We OWN them’. Oh my goodness. I am not completely nieve. I know that eventually my dd will start exploring the secular music world. But I would also like to believe that God owns my dd!!

There was also The Revolve tour in Fort Wayne Indiana this weekend and Natalie Grant called and talked to us during the conference telling us how the 5000 girls in Fort Wayne were doing. Revolve will be in Denver in November. I wish all my nieces lived closer, I would take them. I guess they did a drama on cutting that REALLY touched the girls. Nicole Johnson wrote all the dramas for the revolve tour, so I can only Imagine how powerful they are. Talk about someone who can show the love of God through acting!! The Revolve tour is suppose to really touch the girls and talk to them about stuff they are facing. I know how hard it was when I was a teen, I can’t even imagine what teens today are going through. And to think that they can go spend the weekend with their friends hearing from all the different speakers (the lead speaker being a guy) and the wonderful Christian artists that are also working with that tour. If you are in the Denver area and know a teenage girl… they are in Denver in November.

Home Again

Women of Faith was wonderful as usual. It is one of those wonderful realizations that God can use anyone. Just cuz these women are up on the stage doing all the talking and making all the money, doesn’t mean they don’t have the same problems that the rest of us do. Granted, they probably don’t have the money issues, but they still get it some way!! None of us are exempt… and no where in the bible does it say that life is going to be easy… and even more so, life is not going to be easy once you decide to start following God.

I think that is the part that really get people… they think it is going to be easier, and they forget that God gave the reign of the earth to someone else who DOES like to cause problems, especially for those of us who Chose to follow God!! But the best part is, we have God there holding our hand and holding us up when times get tough!!

National conference is in San Antonio in March… That would be really cool. As it was, we were sold out this weekend…. 17,000 women in one building singing praise to God! Wow!! Could you imagine 65,000 or whatever it is that the dome can hold??

Thursday Thirteen #13

Hey, It is #13 of my Thursday Thirteens!!!

Thirteen Things I Am Needing To Finish This Weekend

1. Finish getting programs installed on my computer (starting with Office and homesite)

2. Pack For Women Of Faith (it is this weekend!!)

3. Volunteer at the DD’s school (she asked me to do it, so I signed up… now she keeps asking about a party, I think I missunderstood what she wanted me to volunteer to do!)

4. Do the dd’s hair for school pictures

5. Work on Friday morning (yah, I get to do that and my teacher I am the aid for gets to go to the preconference… I keep harassing her and telling her that I didn’t want to have the kids having a sub this early in the year so I chose NOT to go, LOL… and she has an extra ticket too!)

6. Unpack some more boxes

7. Go Grocery shopping (I have been trying since Friday… blaming this one on the dh!!!)

8. Find the pots & Pans… they are in the garage… SOMEWHERE

9. Call Grandma to wish her a happy Birthday on Friday (I can’t forget… but I will be so distracted and excited about WOF)

10. Get the DVD player and speakers hooked up to the TV in my office

11. Did I mention unpacking some more boxes???

12. Start harassing the dh about getting the server connected this weekend so that I can actually access some of my files!! (they are all on the server) Oh, and I finally remembered where I have homesite files saved… on the server, so I can’t even install the program to be able to update any of the websites… yah, Emmaus people are harassing me, cuz there is a walk next month and I haven’t updated the Pilgrim list!!!

13. Get all the songs off my iPod and back on my computer (I did mention that when I reformated my computer, it reformated the wrong harddrive… yah, it reformated my D drive… all that was there was ALL of my music!! So sucks!!!!!)
