Crayons, Playdoh & Wax

Leslie’s Life being colored, shaped and molded

It Is Amazing

You know, it doesn’t matter how long I live here… the differences just as you drive across town amaze me! Today we took the girl scout troop down to Fort Carson for their Pumpkin Patch/Hay ride that they have. Up near my house we have HUGE piles of snow on the sides of the road from the plows… we got down there… not even a little bit of snow!! We figured at least Mud… not even that! And it was 70 degrees outside… so when I say that the snow will be gone by Halloween… I am pretty close!!

I did tell dh he has to clear the steps completely by Monday though, cuz yesterday the UPS guy put a package IN MY VAN!!! Not even to the front door!! Personally I think that takes a lot of guts. It would have been better to just put it by the garage door than IN my van!!! I thought about complaining, but we have had the same guy since we moved up here… granted, we moved… but still!!

Snowed In

So we ended up getting around 2 feet… yes, that was correct, not a typo… 24 inches… and then the drifts on top of that… Oh My!

The dog had fun… and then she tried to get me to join in. I put on my boots and was going to go across the deck to knock snow off the dish (at least they put it where I can reach) since the dog had made a nice little path for me to get there… and what does she do? She knocked me down. I felt like one of those little old ladies in the commerical… I’ve Fallen and I can’t get up!! Kyra got me in just the right spot so I was between the house and the snow pile. I sat and beat on the door with the swiffer until Ken came and helped me up. First he yelled he was busy… so I just kept knocking. My butt was so cold!!!

When I got back in the house I went upstairs and put my PJs back on. Ken was like ‘are you going back to bed???’ I said, NO, just getting out of the WET clothes. And then I went downstairs and put on hot water for hot chocolate. I knew K would want it when she came in from playing. She had such a ball!! I spent half the afternoon trying to get the pilot light lit on the fireplace… after dinner it took Ken about 2 minutes. I swear, he must have had a trick or something!!

School is already cancelled for tomorrow, no alarms, nothing. It will be a nice Friday :) I just went and soaked in my nice big tub… Oh that is so nice!! I had to soak my feet anyway… so why not, right??

I did take pictures, but Ken’s computer is dead… and he won’t let me upload them onto my computer, even if I don’t delete them off the camera… Just a little bit of a control freak!!!

Thirteen Things I Am Planning To Do During Our Blizzard

Since the weather men are convinced that we are going to have a blizzard tomorrow, of course we won’t see near the snow amounts they are thinking, but just in case, here is a list of things I would like to do while we are stuck in the house!! UPDATE: We got it… and it is Coming down out there!!!! It is just beautiful! I knew it was deep when I went to let the dog out and the now was actually to the window part of the door!!!

1. Sleep In (but since it is my day off already…) Totally forgot that I would actually be wide awake at 6 AM with the TV on and the radio…

2. Catch up on Email. Since we have moved, I am not on the computer nearly as much… probably cuz the computer is not in the middle of the family room!

3. Watch some movies

4. Make an apple pie (I bought the stuff to do that when I was stocking up on food for the house… yet another reason it won’t snow!)

5. Watch the dd play in the snow

6. Try out the new gas fireplace (we haven’t lit it since we moved in… matter of fact, we don’t even have the pilot light lit… the landlord lit it and dh turned it off)

7. Watch the dog playing in the snow (have I mentioned that she is a SNOW dog!!! ;)) At least when the snow is deep enough to walk over the fence, this time she will only get to a neighbors house and not the park!! It is up to her belly already… and she doesn’t have short legs… she is in HEAVEN!!!

8. Pick up the dd from school early (cuz they have pushed it back, so I am thinking they won’t get their snow day tomorrow, but an early release cuz of the blizzard conditions) We are actually shocked… it started snowing about 3, by 6 am most of the city is shut down, including ALL of the school districts and dh’s work is even listed… he didn’t believe me until he saw it himself!!!

9. Unpack a few boxes. Maybe get some of the desk ones done (yah, the cars are still not in the garage, which is going to totally bite with the snow amounts they are predicting)

10. Walk over and watch the neighbors trying to dig out of our old col-de-sac (yah, that is definitely one thing that I WILL not miss about the old house… oh the drifts were horrible!!!)

11. Reminise about the Blizzard of 97… Snowed in at the church with 22 youth and 7 months PG… they said 4 TO 8 inches when I left home… I was in sandles… and we got 48 inches!! And this time we actually have a digital camera, so I won’t have the same problem of NO FILM for the camera. Man, I still can’t believe I didn’t get a picture of that 15+ foot drift in our back yard… it was a strait wall that was taller than the house!!

12. Make a nice roast and fresh warm bread for dinner. (it just sounds really good to have fresh warm bread when it is cold outside)

13. Make a nice homemade soup for lunch… and eat it in bed while watching a movie ;)

Ok, so I probably won’t get it all done, but should we actually get the 10-16 inches they are predicting for our area, I figure we will be out of school the rest of the week, so I will get a nice 4 day weekend and can enjoy. In the mean time… check back tomorrow to see if you can get any pictures on my Pikes Peak cam!!

Hey, if you pray, keep our Walk To Emmaus in your prayers this weekend… it was suppose to start today… and of course, it is in Westcliffe… which is expecting over 2 feet. I think getting them there is the biggest issue, once they get there, it is suppose to be beautiful the rest of the weekend!!!

Update On prayer request

Since I was asked, My Uncle Mike has Stage 4 lung cancer and is going through Chemo. They aren’t giving him much hope at this point, but God is bigger than any doctor in my book!!

My FIL, they found spots on his lungs and he is having a PET scan on Monday. At this point they aren’t wanting to say for sure until they get the test back, but the man has smoked for 50 years… We just found this out today.

As for my cousin Cheryl, I haven’t heard any more except that she has a prolactinoma, and since I had one when I was 18, I am not necessarily shocked… except that it is effecting her walking… I have only heard of them effecting the vision.

I had my toes done on Tuesday and called the Podiatrist today cuz of the pain in my legs and I am suppose to be sitting at home with my legs up… which I am not doing while sitting here… so I need to run… and I haven’t even introduced my new Roommate yet… I will before time runs out… in the mean time, go click that button… you know you want too!!! ->

Thirteen of Leslie’s Favorite Movies

These are the movies that I can watch over and over… and these are not in order… And to be nice… I am not putting pictures on each one… I will just put a link :)

1. The Secret Of My Sucess - Michael J. Fox

2. Die Hard - and pretty much any one of the trilogy… Bruce Willis - and I LOVE action/adventure movies!! (just not a lot on this list ;))

3. Never Been Kissed - Drew Barrymore & Michael Vartan… just the thought of going back to high school ::shiver::

4. A Walk In The Clouds - Keanu Reeves - after watching this movie, I wanted to name my dd Victoria :)

5. The Wedding Planner - Jennifer Lopez & Matthew McConaghy (although everytime I watch this now, I can’t help but laugh at Mosimo… cuz on Grey’s anatomy, he doesn’t have that accent ;))

6. When Harry Met Sally - Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal - one of the best all time scenes in a movie… and the best line ‘I’ll have what she’s having’ ;)

7. Maid In Manhatten another Jennifer Lopez Movie.

8. The Wedding Date Debrah Messing & Dermot Mulroney

9. Fools Rush In Matthew Perry & Selma Hayek (she is the producer of Ugly Betty)

10. You’ve Got Mail Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks… then again, couldn’t you just add all of their movies… Sleepless in Seattle… and Well, maybe not Joe & The Volcano, but still :)

11. Independence Day - Will Smith… see now this was a toss up… I almost put MIB, but then there is MIB II, or maybe Hitch… He makes good movies!!

12. 50 First Dates Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore. Just the thought of a guy making you fall in love with him day after day after day… what a great love story!

13. The Sweetest Thing Camron Diez and Christina Applegate. This is the movie I save for when I want to watch a really raunchy movie!! (you have to watch the unrated version or they cut some of the best scenes!)

The Dog Is So Happy!!

And I am quite sure that the dd and I won’t be far behind!! Yes, We got a BUNCH of snow tonight. They said yesterday on the news that it would start raining about 6 tonight… and for the most part, areas north of us might get an inch or 2.

It started raining at 11:30 this MORNING as we were trying to take the kids outside to play. By 3:15 when I was leaving the dd’s school it was snowing and by 4:30 while I was suppose to be getting my toes done… it was sticking. We have at least 5-6 inches out there… and since Black Forest is in our school district, I am thinking a Delay in the morning at least… if not all day off. Either way I don’t mind. (I still get paid ;))

The dog on the other hand is sitting on the back deck with her nose COVERED in snow… and she won’t come in. The first thing she did when we let her outside was to eat the snow, then she started running laps in the yard. She would come in periodically throughout the evening to warm up and as soon as she was warm, she was asking to go back out again. She is one crazy dog!!! The cats on the other hand keep looking at that white stuff that falls off the dog and our feet really weird and then back away :)

What A Way To Wake Up

So this morning, I am nicely tucked in my bed, cuz it is my day off and I didn’t schedule a SINGLE appointment today… the only thing I have to do is wash linens and do the 1 hour or so of house cleaning. I should have known something was up, cuz last night Ken got Out of Bed to go get a box I had located out of the garage. It was his bathroom box… with all his razors and stuff. I had been harassing him that the mustache needed trimming.

I got up to run the dd to school, cuz she was late… and when I got home he had shaved down to a gotee… I can deal with that. I go back to bed and get all cuddled in… turn on the TV and start dozing. He goes and climbs in the shower and I did notice that he wouldn’t look at me… I didn’t think much about it. Next thing I know, he is dressed and kisses me good-bye… COMPLETELY Clean shaven. I think the last time I have actually seen him clean shaven was the day we met!!

It is so strange. Then it is almost 2, I am upstairs doing laundry and he walks in the house… Nope, not a dream ;) I just keep staring at him and he just keeps saying ‘what??’. At least when he decided to shock me when he was in school and he cut his Long hair down to nice and neat and he shaved, he at least left the mustache.

When K got home from school, I told her to go see daddy. I told her that she has NEVER seen him look like this before. She stood in the doorway, not sure what to say. (I had to feed her the word different, cuz she didn’t know what to say ;)) She did tell him she almost fainted :)

Oh yes, pictures will be coming!! I wonder if we can set something up to download pictures onto my computer, cuz the camera is getting full and Ken still hasn’t got the network set up… I have taken to retyping all my paperwork!!

Long Weekend

Today was parent teacher conferences… except in our case it was parents and teacher and reading teacher and counselor… all we needed was the therapist and psychiatrist, a principle and a few others ;)

It actually went well and she has good grades. The couple that aren’t A’s are just cuz she didn’t turn in work, not that she can’t DO IT!! I think we do need to meet with the PE teacher though… I swear since she was in kindergarten that child has never gotten higher than a 2 in that class. I don’t know if she can’t do it, won’t do it or if he just doesn’t like her! She was in PT for over a year as a baby, so if she needs help, I sure wish he would tell us. I did laugh that she got strait 4’s in Science but then her grade was a C+ (they are graded from 1-4 in specials… 1 being needs help and 4 is demonstrates consistantly)… but there was a note that her test grade dropped her grade. When I asked her about it she said that there was a question that she didn’t know the answer and it frustrated her. My guess is she didn’t just skip it and blew the rest of the test. Maybe that is something we need to have A work on with her??

I felt so bad, cuz Belinda called this morning to see if I could work. As we were leaving yesterday I said, ‘if you need anything hollar’ not thinking K’s PT conference was this morning… and B got sick. The boss was out of town… and already had a sub, so that was the problem, they needed someone who knew what to do. We finally got Jeani to come in… she has worked there long enough, she knows!

Anyway, we are off the rest of the weekend. I told my mom if she hadn’t been in Indiana, I would have piled in the car and drove down after the nurse at the foot doctor screwed everything up with that!! Oh well.

Mary’s Lamb

So, I don’t tend to put stuff like this in my blog… but since there have been so many stupid shootings, including Another horrible one in Colorado… and the one in PA…

Mary’s Lamb

Mary had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day,
T’wasn’t even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!
Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime,
That’s in our schools today?
Let’s let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!

It is said that 86% of Canadian, American & British people believe in God.

Why don’t we just tell the other 14% to shut-up and sit down????
