Crayons, Playdoh & Wax

Leslie’s Life being colored, shaped and molded

3 Years Old

Happy Birthday to Kyra! Yes, it is the dogs birthday… and you would think it is a birthday of one of the parents the way the dd has been going on and on today. It is actually quite cute, but she LOVES birthdays. She was like this last month for the cats birthdays too.

We ran to the post office to send off for my passport today, (yah, I know, I had to pay to expidite it, but the new birth certificate just came yesterday) and on the way home, we saw a dog running down the next block. Ken and I both thought it was Kyra, but couldn’t figure out how, since we had left her in the house. Turned out it was another Shepherd!

And to top it off… we have a snow day today. It is really cold and has snowed all day. It is still snowing this evening… not nearly as much as we got last month, but it is COLDER than that storm too!

Anyway… Happy Birthday Tiny… from your sister Kyra!! I am off to put up some Christmas decorations.

Feeling A little better

So I went to the doctor today. She said she is pretty sure it is a virus. Gave me an Rx for antibiotic anyway, incase I got worse… and I filled it on the way home. When I was in the office she asked me if I was running any fevers or feeling clammy. I said No on the fevers, but the clammy was horrible and had just started again. As she was listening to my lungs and stuff, she was like… man, you are sweating! I was like… Told you! Then when I was at the counter checking out I felt like I was going to colapse.

I took my dose and then a nice long nap as soon as I got home and I feel about 80% better tonight. It’s a good thing since I can’t find a sub!!

Back to work tomorrow, but I am cancelling all the afternoon appointments and taking a nap when I get home. Hopefully I will kick thing completely in the next day or so! And Then I can get up my TREE!!!! (I figure we will have a snow day on Wednesday again… so I will have my day planned out for me!!)

Black Friday!!

All right… for those of you who know me… are you ready to fall over??? I didn’t step foot in a store today!! (unless you count blockbuster). Yes, my favorite shopping day of the year and I wake up sick! The sore throat started last night a little… Haley’s did too… so we both took some Tylenol Sinus, Night time and headed to bed. We both felt horrible this morning! I rolled over and went back to sleep (and my alarm work Ken up… he on the other hand didn’t roll back over!)

I did however decide that it is probably allergies and we are both taking our Zyrtec and nose sprays before going to bed tonight, hoping the sore throats are just from sinus drainage! Anyway, so we decided to go see The Santa Clause 3 today. It was a great movie and I am glad we saw it.

I was looking at the Christmas movies at Blockbuster tonight… I have a bunch of them… but the problem is… most of them are on Video… I need to get them switched over. I have The Santa Clause in Video… but The Santa Clause 2 on DVD :) Oh, Miracle on 34th Street needs dvd… both versions. Oh, and I have Jingle All the Way on video… I think I will get a couple of them, but not all that is for sure! (atleast this year). I think I have a clue where the case is for The Grinch… I know where the disk is… got to love it having a dd who loves to never put things away!! I am really working on changing that… especially more so since we moved! (No one even commented on how clean my house was yesterday… I will say it was nice only having to sweep and run the vacuum!!)

So, were you up at 6 AM today???

Thursday Thirteen #19

Thirteen Things about Leslie

It’s Thanksgiving, What else would I write about, but the things I am Thankful For!

1. My Savior and the relationship that I have.

2. My husband, and that he puts up with all my weirdness :)

3. My dd… she is the light of my life

4. My family. Not sure I would have always said that… but things change, especially as you get older.

5. That we have a house to live in. Not everyone is that fortunate

6. That we live in one of the most beautiful locations that God could have ever made!

7. That there is food on our table

8. That we have running water. I think of the little girl we sponsor in Tanzania and think about how they have to buy and haul water every day!

9. For our pets, all tons of them :)

10. For our new church family. It was a struggle getting me to change, but now I really feel at home.

11. For my Friends, of course I am not going to forget them. I have some that I have known forever… and some that are new. Each one brings a special light to my life.

12. For the clothes on our backs

13. Hearing the laughter of children. What better way can the Love of the Lord be expressed??

Decorating

So I decided on the color for the tree this year :) Every year I pick a color that jumps out at me for the primary color of the tree. I use the same ornaments almost every year, but the colors are for stuff like the bows and beads… and then I pick up a set of bulbs in the color I am using… I don’t go nuts and buy a whole new trees worth of decorations every year. Anyway, this year is it light blue and red. It is a really pretty combo. I wanted to buy the bell wreath at Target, but I wouldn’t spend $25 on it.

I also have decided that we NEED a 2nd tree in this house. A big tree that is. I have more than enough ornaments to cover 2 trees… and now with the split level, I have the places for it! We did decide on where to put the tree this year, but that does leave the living room empty. I have about 3 of the 32 inch trees, so I guess I can put those in the living room! 2 more days til I put up the trees!!!

I need to get onto the server so I can do my cute Christmas count down… I have the graphics saved on there!

Think I am Figuring Things Out

I think I have figured out part of my problem with coming to the computer since we moved. When we did, I reformated the computer and changed a bunch of the stuff I was using… starting with my email program. A few years ago I switched to Firefox instead of IE for my browser… and I LOVE it, it is faster than IE and it is supported on most websites, there are just a few things that frustrate me (Like MSN!!)

Anyway, dh had me switch to Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express, which I have decided, I don’t like… and I think that is my biggest problem… that and it is cold down here. Yes, I know that I am usually a very Warm person… but since we moved, I am actually getting cold in this house…. especially down here.

I worked on the garage today, trying to get a space so that I can get up to my outdoor decorations. I wanted to put them up today since we were going for a record high for the day, but I never made it. Maybe if I can get dh to help me out there for an hour or 2 we can actually get a spot big enough for the car!! I think I got just about all of K’s boxes done!

Now all I need to get is one of those big tall reacher things to help put the lights up on the tree that I have in the front yard (that I have never had before) Anyone have a clue how much the cost??

Tomorrow is our yearly trip to the movies. K and I go every year the day before Thanksgiving. We started this years ago when we only had Wednesday off… not the whole week. Haley is going with us… we are off to see Happy Feet. If not I want to see The Santa Clause 3!! (K is trying to talk me into Flushed Away, but I already promised H that we would see Happy Feet!)

Tonight I need to get the turkey in the brine (oh a reason to get dh in the garage… he needs to get me down the cooler… other side of the garage from the decorations, but still, he is out there ;)) and tomorrow I stuff the turkey and bake all the pies!! I love this week!!!

Crazy Week

I am sorry I haven’t been writing. It has been nuts around here… ending up with K getting sick. I took her to the doctor yesterday, and the strep test was negative. I think we might have tested too soon, cuz today her temp went up to 101. Thankfully they did put her on antibiotics… this is going to make for a really long vacation for her since she doesn’t have ANY school next week.

I am hardly on the computer anymore it seems. I use to live on this thing. Makes me wonder if it is an out of sight out of mind thing ;) Since we moved, it isn’t in the middle of the family room any more!!

Maybe I will try and do the Thursday Thirteen later tonight!

Interesting Service

I knew it was be different going to a non-denominational church, but I am seeing things that I think are really cool. Like the fact that we pray for another church in our community every week, that people will find the love of the Lord and that God’s Will be done at that church. It is not a competition, it is a community!

Today, Pastor Mike did feel the need to state where our church and other evangelical churches in the area are standing on the whole Pastor Ted stuff. It was really kind of cool to hear them address the issue and again, the fact that we are all sinners and that we come to the Lord a broken person was brought up. Ultimately what matters is our relationship with God, and that hasn’t changed. The part that I did find cool was where he pointed out that the way that their church will respond to Pastor Ted & his Wife, will reflect the love of the Lord to thousands… which I hadn’t even thought of. I don’t even go there aren I am willing to support them, I believe that is what God wants us to do. They had TV crews there and the church services were being broadcast all over the internet. We drive past there going to church… the OVERFLOW parking lot was FULL this morning!!

I just read the releases that are on their website. It is just sad. I am sure that we are hearing a lot more about this here in Colorado Springs, just because this effects our community, but I do know that they soldiers in Iraq have even heard about it. I just know that in the end, it will all turn for God’s Good!!

Oh, I almost forgot… the other thing that was cool. They had one of the guys that is running for our House of Rep here in our area at church today… they had him and his family come up and we prayed over him, in representation of all the people running for office in this coming weeks election. I thought that was cool. They weren’t endorcing him, but lifting him up (they also mentioned who he was running against). I thought I was losing it when we were walking into church and I had spotted him. It took me a second to figure out why he looked familiar… and then I saw his name tag. (and Nope, didn’t change my mind… I’m still not voting for him… but I still thought it was cool!)
