Oh My Aching Back…

Yup, after about 3 years without a major blow out, my back decided to go out on Thursday… while I was taking a shower. It made for quite a fun day. Thankfully I had pain meds and steroids. I had a doctor appointment on Friday for a referral to a Neurologist anyway, so she refilled my pain meds and is getting a referral for the pain meds and Gastric bypass. I would be shocked if the GB came through on the first try, but I can’t start the process again until I get denied!

Anyway, I think I am on the road to recovery, although the right arm and shoulder are not being nice to me.

It is a beautiful day out though, windows open and fans going. How is your weekend doing???

Rainy Day….

So we are up, getting ready for work/school this morning, and I have no idea why, I turned on the TV. I never turn it on the in morning… and when I did… I see there are cancellations. I bend over to look out the window and it is barely starting to snow… (I had looked out the window before I had gotten up, only cuz it looked like there was snow on the neighbors deck… and it is only raining) and I knew there was a chance for icky weather tonight, but didn’t watch the weather last night.

Then they list that our school district is closed… and I keep looking at the TV, then out the window, then at the TV… I even changed channels to make sure it wasn’t an old trailer or something, but it was on more than one…and then I tell K that there is no school. Ken is like ‘Hey, that isn’t fair’ (cuz if K doesn’t have school, I don’t work). The weird part is… I never once heard ANY cancellations on the radio.

So, how is your rainy day??

Be Careful What You Pray For

So, last night was our weekly bible study. We have been studying James. It is a really great study… matter of fact, during Lent, our study of James basically paralleled our church sermons on Joseph (it was actually really intersting how it worked out… but that is how God does it). Anyway, to my point. Last night at our study, there were a couple of us talking. One of the gals son is having problems with his GF. Well, as we were talking it came around to house cleaning (that is the problem he is having)… and one of the things that was said was that ‘you have to want to clean’… and S gave an example of how she went to the hospital and she felt so much better cuz it was clean there that she started cleaning her home better to help her feel better. I told them how when I am at a house that is really clean, like the house we went too last night (and how she does it with 3 little ones under 6 I will never know) but I tend to be more motivated when I get home, especially if these people will ever be coming to my house.

Now, I know I have prayed before about helping me keep the house clean, (ok, technically I believe I was praying more for motivation and energy, but that is another story) but I am not sure if I just didn’t listen or ignored the nudge or what. So what happens… This morning, I am awakened at 5:45, by what I thought was the animals. Now this isn’t that unusual, and I usually roll over and go back to sleep. I tell you what, I think God was working over time on this one. As I lay there trying to go back to sleep, I start thinking about all the dead leaves in my herb garden box (in the kitchen window). I start thinking about all this ’stuff’ in the kitchen, and I realize it isn’t doing me any good just laying in bed and ‘thinking’ about it… and by 6 AM, I am down cleaning my kitchen. Ok, anyone who knows me knows, that the only way I am ever up and cleaning at 6 AM is if I never went to bed!!! I know I do tend to clean better late at night and early in the morning when everyone else is in bed, but still 6 AM??? I tell you, God really does have a sense of humor!!! Even on school days, my alarm is just now going off!!! (oh yah, this layout doesn’t do the time… it’s 7:20)

Oh, and to top it off, I come down to close a show, and I am reading the weekly email that comes from our church… and this is what I read (it is about the Holy Spirit):
The good news is this; according to Romans 8, all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ have the Holy Sprit in them. It says we no longer have an “obligation to live according to the sinful nature.” By walking in the Spirit we have hope to overcome some of the stuff that drags us down. I’m learning that on my own, in my sinful nature, I simply cannot accomplish a life that is holy and set apart for God. I MUST yield my will to the Holy Spirit who lives in me.
See what happens when you listen to the Holy Spirit??? You get woke up up 6 AM!!! ;)

Yes, I Am Still Here

Although at the moment, I am not sure where my blog is ;) They are in the middle of moving me from one host to another and as far as I can tell, I have not been contacted by the new host yet.

Things have been weird the last week+. I was good and didn’t comment about any of the whole Don Imus stuff… but then again, until this whole thing happened, I had actually never even heard of him! I spent all of last week watching Roots and that seemed to bring home more about what was going on. (and I so can’t believe it has been 30 years. I remember watching it the first time it was on!!) I will say this though… even though I personally feel that non of that should have been said in the first place, why is it he got fired and the producer seemed to have been the one starting the whole conversation to begin with??? Did he even get in trouble?

I have been glued to the TV since Monday. I think I am a weird person, cuz I keep hearing from everyone around me how they don’t want to even hear about it. I am turning on news stations between my news broadcasts. I just feel so bad for all of the students at Virginia Tech. I watched the convocation yesterday. Then went to CNN & Fox News… then back to CBS… I finally had enough last evening, so what did I turn on? The Closer (since everything I usually watch was a rerun!!)

I don’t even remember now if I posted some of the prayer request updates. My cousin Jennifer had her son back in March when I was in Phoenix. He was 6 weeks early, so they had to run him to the other hospital right after delivery. Then Jen got a blood clot in her arm, so she was in 1 hospital, B was in the other hospital and dh was running back and forth trying to keep up. Jen is home now and B was suppose to have been home 2 weeks ago, but we haven’t heard anything (I called mom to double check)

My friend Donna, whom I have known since grade school had surgery for a mass in her abdomen. Turned out that it was on her intestine and they removed it. She got home and a couple days after she was rushed to the ER cuz the incision on the intestines had come apart and she had peritonitis. She was on a Vent for about 3 days and was home about the time I left for Phoenix. I finally talked to her this past week and she is doing good. They thought her incision was getting infected so they had to add extra steps in getting that healed up. They will do her reversal in a couple of months I am sure. In the mean time she found out that all her pain is cuz her spleen is dying. She is thinking they will remove her spleen when they do her reversal. In the mean time, she became a grandma. Oh man, I feel so old. She is actually younger than me… and no, she didn’t get PG in high school… so yes, I am old enough that I could be a grandma!!! I am trying to talk her into going with me when I go on the graduation trip the end of next month. Her Mom is in AZ and her dd and gdd are in TX :) so she wouldn’t have to hang with me :)

Hmm…. did I say that they did repeat the FIL’s CT scan? I think I remember dh telling me that there were more spots on the lungs, but the ones that were there were the same size.

I think that is about it. Oh, we have been doing marriage counceling weekly (only missing spring break) since the middle of march. Seems to be helping I think.
